Lake Acigami is located in the Tierra del Fuego National Park and its basin is on the border between Chile and Argentina.<\/p>\n

The lake is of glacial origin, with a northwest-southeast orientation, lying between the Guanaco and Pir\u00e1mides mountain ranges. With an extension of 11 km. and an average width of 1.5 km. is fed by the Lapataia River whose course is naturally dammed by a glacial moraine.<\/p>\n

The native peoples of the area called it Acigami, which in the Yaghan language means \u201cbasket or elongated bag\u201d but after colonization the lake was renamed Lake Roca (Argentine sector) and Err\u00e1zuriz (Chilean portion) in honor of the presidents of both nations who signed the Treaty of Limits on February 15, 1899.<\/p>\n

In November 2008 and in commemoration of the Day of the Fuegian Aborigine, the original name was restored.<\/p>\n
