The Kamakura Daibutsu, or Great Buddha of Kamakura, is a prominent bronze statue located in the city of Kamakura, which is part of Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. This statue is a depiction of Amida Buddha and is situated within the K\u014dtoku-in Temple in the small town of Hase. The Kamakura Daibutsu stands impressively at over 13 meters (43 feet) tall and weighs approximately 93 tons.<\/p>\n

This historic statue was originally cast in the mid-13th century, around 1252, during the Kamakura period, which adds to its cultural and historical significance. The Daibutsu was initially housed within a large temple hall, but the building was destroyed multiple times by natural disasters, including typhoons and a tidal wave in the 15th century. Since then, the statue has stood in the open air.<\/p>\n
