Along the rugged cliffs of Daewangam in Ulsan, a striking pine forest clings to the granite shoreline.
These coastal pines\u2014primarily Pinus thunbergii (known locally as haesong or black pine)\u2014have evolved to withstand relentless sea winds and salt-laden mist.
Their roots wedge deep into cracks in the rock, anchoring them against storms and tides.
Many display twisted or leaning silhouettes, sculpted over decades by wind pressure and salt spray.
This enduring struggle has turned the Daewangam pines into a living emblem of resilience, standing watch over the vast waters of the East Sea \/ Sea of Japan.<\/p>\n
