Some specimens have deeply edged leaves with a firm texture, adapted to cold climates, while others have more delicate, palmate shapes. The most common species in these latitudes (Acer pseudosieboldianum), though it is not unusual to also find its better-known relative (Acer palmatum), native to a neighboring region.
