During our stay in Piraeus<\/b>, there was an old black cat who seemed to belong to our street more than to anyone in particular. Almost every day we would find him asleep on the warm roofs and hoods of the parked cars, quietly watching the neighborhood around him.<\/p>\n

From the very beginning, there was an easy connection between us. He allowed us to pet him without hesitation, was always happy to accept the food we brought him, and would gently ask for attention in return. Despite his age and the roughness of street life, he had an unusually calm and affectionate nature.<\/p>\n

We affectionately started calling him \u201cLeonidas<\/b>,\u201d simply because it felt like a dignified and fitting Greek name for him. There was something noble and calm in the way he carried himself, as if he had been part of that street for many years and quietly knew every corner of it.<\/p>\n

After a few days, he began to recognize us as well. Whenever we returned to the block, he would appear somewhere nearby, waiting with the quiet patience of a cat who had decided we were familiar enough to trust.<\/p>\n
